Our students found themselves in royal company for the second time!

Last summer a group of gifted Art students met and worked with the Duchess of Cambridge when she visited Ben Ainslie Racing’s new headquarters in Portsmouth. Sir Ben Ainslie is one of the most successful Olympic sailors in history.

More recently a group of students were invited to help celebrate the Diamond Anniversary of the Duke of Edinburgh's (DofE) Award. His Royal Highness Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, attended a special event to mark the occasion at the Ryde Arena Ice Rink in May.

Prince Edward talked to young people about the DofE and watched an inter-school ice skating assault course. He spoke to two of our students - Rhys in Year 9 and Milly in Year 10 - about their experiences with DofE.

Three other students - Toni (Year 8), Holly (Year 7) and Roxy (Year 10 - all talented and experienced skaters, triumphed in the ice skating assault course and were presented with a prize by the Earl of Wessex. Roxy then went on to perform to the royal audience with her fellow synchronised skaters, The Wight jewels.

It was wonderful to see lots of schools and community groups at the event. Our students were all brilliant and it was a great morning!
