Whilst there students attended two seminars. One dealt with the design and construction of a new ride ‘Ratatouille Ride On’. Students were taken through the five year process that saw the project develop from drawings into a 3D ride that allows visitors to experience the life of a rat in a Paris restaurant.
In the second seminar students were introduced to the Disney values of Innovation, Quality, Storytelling, Decency and Optimism. They also had the opportunity to design a rollercoaster ride and create a marketing campaign for it. Staff at Disneyland then gave students feedback.
Jordan Westwood (15) said that he learnt all about how visual enhancement gives visitors a good experience. Scott Hemming (16) said he learnt how media, ICT and marketing work at Disneyland but also in the wider business world and that the trip had been very educational.
It wasn’t all work though! Students stayed in a hotel based on a cowboy town, ate out at King Ludwigs and Planet Hollywood, and of course, got plenty of time to try out the various rides at the resort.
This was a brilliant opportunity for students doing Business and ICT to study a business in action and speak to people working in the industry who were able to share their knowledge and experience.
