Media Students Visit Harry Potter Studios

Forty Media Studies students in Years 10 and 12 swapped Ryde Academy for Hogwarts School last Monday.

The trip to the Warner Brothers Studio set captivated   creative minds as we walked through the Great Hall, flew on broomsticks in the green screen and sat on Hogwarts Express as it steamed through fantastic journeys with    flying frogs and mystical beasts.

The group were given a tour by Production Assistant, Jules Baker Smith, who took time off set to talk to the group. She has worked with Robert Downey Junior on Sherlock and the Iron Man films.

Even if you are not a Potter fan, the opportunity to see each element of film production from idea to cinema is a great experience. We saw the costumes, props, and watched how magical creatures came alive.

Students sampled Harry’s non alcoholic Butterbeer while others returned with wands and clapperboards all very excited and inspired by the visit, ready now to make their own short films.
