I received two emails last week about three of our Prefects who showed guests around following our opening ceremony. Poppy, Louis and Jasmine spent over an hour showing Ann, Malcolm and David (Historic Ryde Society and Ryde Social Heritage Group) around the school. They said ‘The 3 students who explained the various rooms etc were amazing and such a credit to the academy, we asked a lot of questions and nothing was too much trouble to explain, and we were made to feel very welcome’.

In another email, ‘Please also pass on our thanks to the three students, Poppy, Jasmine and Louis, who willingly gave up an hour of their time showing us around, patiently answering our many and varied questions.  We took so long that everyone else was long since gone!  They obviously enjoy their time at the school, and are a credit to it’.

Well done to them and all the other Prefects who came in a day early to attend the ceremony. I am looking forward to working with the Prefect team in the coming year.

We have now published the timetable for Year 11 revision sessions. Every year we are told by Year 11 students how much of an impact these lunch and after schools sessions have on revision and results so it’s never to early to start attending. Details can be found on our website under the Exams tab.

We have also published a programme of extra curricular activities for all students and this can be found on our website under the Student tab or from our reception.

Congratulations to Jasmine Corney (Y11) for being the Principal’s star for this week. She was not only nominated for helping at the opening ceremony but for her role as an advocate for mental wellbeing in young people for the Youth Trust. It is lovely to see someone so passionate about helping others and contributing to the community she lives in.

Have a lovely weekend.

Joy
