It is fantastic to see the ski students back in school and hearing all about the trip. Having been surrounded by blue skies and lots of snow they have come back to wind and rain here, and following on from my optimism last week regarding the snags in our new building being rectified, a leaky start!

Thank you to all the Year 11 students and parents who came along to our first progress evening on Monday. The idea was to get parents, students and teachers together and triangulate the students’ learning to help maximise their exam success. We had some positive feedback. Lots of you said that you hadn’t realised how much students had to do and that the evening had given you more confidence to support your child. I think there is no better way of supporting the students than a team effort between school staff and parents and I am so pleased to see this kind of work at Ryde.

We are also pleased to announce that Mr Sean Duignan has taken on some extra responsibility to become Pastoral Lead where he will work with Miss Sweeney helping to
look after our Year 7s.

Our first Family Learning  event took place on Tuesday. This time we saw the return of badminton which has proved very popular in the past.

Our next Parents’ Evening is for our 6th Form and is taking place on Thursday 25th January, 4pm-7pm at the Haylands site.

Have a lovely weekend.
