I was honoured to be invited to an event last Saturday by Aspire Ryde who were celebrating receiving the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service from the Lord Lieutenant. Aspire is a fantastic organisation working with local people and providing a community hub for everyone to use. One of our Newsletter reporters, Talitha in Year 7, was there to take photos and she has written the report in this edition of the Newsletter.

We had two sets of auditions this week; Rock Challenge 2018 and the school show which this year is ‘We will Rock You’. The auditions proved popular and Rock Challenge saw about 150 students turn up to audition. It was good to see so many Year 7s coming along. I love both of these events and look forward to them all year.

Just a reminder that we have school photos for Years 7, 9 and 11 on Thursday 28th September.

There is also a meeting for the parents and students who are going on the November Berlin/Krakow/Dresden trip on Wednesday 27th September.

I am looking forward to celebrating Isle of Wight Day over the weekend. We’ve got our bunting up! There will be lots of events including the main parade which this year is taking place in Ryde and an all day party at Simeon Street Rec. I would like to wish our elite dance team all the best for the finals of ‘Islands Got Talent’ which is being held at Cowes Enterprise College.  The judges are Paul Topping, Rob da Bank, Mark King and Anneka Rice! The winners will receive a trophy and the opportunity to perform at Bestival 2018.

Have a lovely weekend.

Joy.
