Welcome back and I hope you all had a lovely half term! The holidays started on a high for the New York trip students who looked like they had an amazing time—this is such a once in a life time experience for many and to be able to take part in workshops is so valuable for them.

As you may have seen we are expecting a drop in temperature and there is talk of snow! If there is significant snow fall we will send a text to you as well as posting in all the usual places (social media, website, local media and IWight) to confirm if we are open or closed.

It was lovely to see the Year 5s at the Academy on Thursday and today. They were here to have a taste of life at secondary school and spent time in lessons and having a look around our new school. The Year 6 transition days are taking place on 28th and 29th June 2018.

Some of you may have noticed that demolition of the old school is gathering pace with the removal of the Sportshall.

Good luck to all the Rock Challenge students who will be at Portsmouth Guildhall on Monday 26th February for the Showcase. This is where they perform in front of an audience and are then given feedback in preparation for the finals in April. Students, parents and staff have worked hard on the choreography, costumes and set and I look forward to seeing the finished performance.

We also have Mardi Gras music workshops taking place next week. This is similar to last year where our students helped write and then performed the theme tune for the Mardi Gras.

Ryde Carnival are holding their selection night on Saturday 24th February at 5.30 in our Theatre. This is open to all young people to come along to. More information can be found at the back of this Newsletter.

Our next parents’ Evening is on Thursday 8th March and is for Year 8.

I hope you have a lovely weekend.
