 Rock Challenge 2018

It’s nearly that time of year again. Rock Challenge showcase and finals which are taking place in February and April. It’s been lovely to see all the parents who have been working behind the scenes fundraising and helping with costumes and scenery—thank you.

On the subject of dance we were very lucky to receive a visit from a Brazilian Samba school which you can read about on the front page of this Newsletter. It certainly brought some colour to the rain filled week!

Next week is the start of Futures Fortnight. I am so pleased that we now have a culture whereby careers are a focus all year round but Futures Fortnight still remains an important annual event in our calendar as it gives all our students the chance to think about their choices and what they want to do. We will be holding a number of events next week including a Year 11 careers fair, a 6th Form taster day for our current Year 11s, 6th form work experience and the Year 10 mock interviews.

You can read more about it in the next Newsletter which will be produced by one of our 6th Form students who is doing work experience with us.

As well as all the careers events we also have the Student Council meeting on Wednesday 31st January and the senior/intermediate Maths challenge on Thursday 1st February

Our Year 9 Options Evening is taking place on Thursday 1st February, 4pm-7pm. Letters with further information have been posted home and a copy can be found on our website. A copy of the Options booklet will be given out on the evening and will then be available on our website.

Have a lovely weekend.

Joy
