I had a great afternoon at Islands Got Talent. Congratulations to Hayley (Y11) who was crowned the winner and to our Elite Dance team who came second. The annual competition is a fantastic opportunity for our students to showcase their talent and they certainly did that!

I am so pleased to see our school radio station back in action! This is something we started in the old building but we just didn’t have the facilities to do it justice. However, thanks to the hard work of the radio students, Mr Doyle and our IT department we now have a state of the art station which is able to play music and news to the whole Academy.

Something else that has been in place for a while is our House system. Again it has been a work in progress but this year we have lots of exciting plans for the Houses which you will soon hear more about.

Don’t forget it is our Open Evening for Years 5 and 6 on Thursday 4th October. This is a great opportunity to speak to our students and staff and have a look around our new school building. I will be giving talks at 4.30pm and 5.30pm in the Theatre.

Congratulations to this weeks’ winner of the Principal’s Star award - Hayley Andrews in Year 11. Hayley recently won 'Islands Got Talent' which is a testament to how hard she has worked on her singing talent as well as her confidence. It is lovely to see how far she has come and her tenacity to overcome her nerves and get up in front of people to perform.

Have a lovely weekend.
