Student Council Election Results

Thirty two candidates put themselves forward for the Student Council elections, with many of these making a campaign video of why they should be chosen. On Friday 2 October students from all year groups cast their votes at the ballot boxes during tutor and lunch time. There was a great turnout with most of the students in the Academy casting a vote.

The winning candidates were announced on Monday 5 October. The newly elected Council will be meeting for their first full meeting shortly with key positions within the structure being announced. Also, as part of the Council structure our Head Boy and Girl will chair forthcoming meetings, after going through their own application process to become part of the Prefect team and lead for the student body in the Academy.

This is an exciting time for the Student Council, as they begin to prepare and plan out a vision for their future role which will include a range of activities from organising charity events such as Red Nose Day, to community based activity, to more school focused consultation on key developments in the Academy. Whatever the year has in store, it will be a busy one, and one in which the students will have a real opportunity to develop the effectiveness of student voice across the Academy.

A list of the Council representatives will be published shortly. Congratulations to you all!
